Those Miata's in this last VM SPEC series weren't as much fun as these MINIs were.

I have to disagree with that. While I thoroughly enjoyed the Mini's, the Miata was a blast to drive!

Yeah, I thought the Miata was a good build and a lot of fun to drive - same with the Mini

I thought the Miata's for SPEC were terrible for me, it was on my only time slot available from work but I couldn't bring myself to drive that car after the experience from the MX5s in the early GP2 series

Miatas can be fickle to tune regardless of the build but when right they are a blast. I can't comment to the particular tune in question as I didn't participate but do have many fun builds in them.
