GP2 Series 1

With the Virtual Motorsports 2012 Season freshly announced, we bring you the second event of the year in the form of the GP2 Series, a series unique in its approach that pits driver against driver in a format that uses two races and partially reversed grids to spice up the action and keep the final result a guessing game until the final corner of the final lap. Using the 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth at a performance index of A-562, side by side racing is guaranteed as grip is plentiful with its all-wheel drive configuration ensuring full control at all times for both novices and experts alike.

Racing on Tuesdays at 14:00 CST / 20:00 GMT / 06:00 AEST, many different environments will be encountered, testing the skill of the driver against a whole manner of situations. Starting at the historic Silverstone Racing Circuit, the circus will travel the Atlantic to Infineon Raceway, a new environment for Forza Motorsport 4. The Far East then waits as Twin Ring Motgei is the venue for Round 3 before travelling back to Europe for Mugello Autodromo Internazionale. A double header at America comes next as Sedona Raceway Park and Road America host a round each before finishing with the Nurburgring Grand Prix Circuit and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Speed, handling and consistency will all be tested.

Recognising that drivers prefer different levels of teamwork, there will be 3 championships available depending on what levels drivers wish to compete at. All drivers will be entered in the Drivers Championship, but aside from that, both a Teams and a Privateers Championship are available if the driver wishes to be part of a team or a lone effort.

Working alongside Turn 10, the series is officially sponsored and will feature in-game credits and gift cars to be won by the drivers. Those skilled, or lucky enough to finish in the top 10 of the Driver Championship will earn themselves a share of the credits available, with the podium finishers of the Championship also gaining a unicorn car of their choice. Not only that, the Privateer Champion will receive credits and a unicorn, with the Team Champions receiving credits. In addition, for all drivers that complete the series with 100% attendance (attending 7 out of 8 rounds), a random draw will take place to determine who receives another unicorn car.

Series 1 of the unpredictable event will begin on the 17th January and run through consecutive weeks until the series finale on the 6th March. 8 weeks of racing against all manner of skill levels, where everyone is there to have some good clean racing and where anyone can do well.
