Nascar Season 2 at FLR!

Here
we go race fans, FLR's official Nascar Season Two!! There have been a
few changes for this round of races based on popular demand and the
desire to keep things interesting and challenging.

First up, the
car: This seasons car has been designed to mimic the actual Nascar
specs as closely as possible, HP, weight, and tire size.

The build is as follows:

PI R3 742

Eng - Race Intake, Race Carb, 1st stage restrictor removed
Platform - Race Brakes, Stock weight
Drive Line - Stock Tranny, Race Driveline
Tires - Race Compound, 1st Upgrade Front and Rear ( tire size 315/45R15)

There will be two restrictor plate races where the 1st stage plate will be put back on.

Track List: Due to popular demand we have added a few road courses to this seasons schedule.

The tracks will be:

Sunset Oval
Sunset Oval Reverse (restrictor plate race)
Motegi
Sedona
Indy
Camino Mini ( restrictor plate race) our very own Bristol Bowl Bash!!!!
Road Atlanta
Road America
LeMan's
Infineon Nascar Circuit

(not in order of races)

I will get together with CJ to post the official schedule and the sign up page will be opened immediately following that post!

Since there doesn't seem to be any Nascar action on the horizon at VM, you can get your fix at FLR with us! The schedule has been posted and sign ups are open. The action begins March 1st (FRI) at 8pm est. Hope to see some of you guys there.

If my friday night is open I would love to continue to drive in circles. (Reminds me of my last race in the Spec series this past thursday when I missed the pit by going on the outside of the wall, spinning in circles trying to turn myself around, go backward, and enter the pit on the RIGHT side of the wall. I did all that without loosing more than 20 seconds off my lap time, of course not counting the extra time added by the actual pit stop itself. I did finish the race. )

Strange, I'll check into it for you. I know your not forbidden since I'm the one who does such things.....

When attempting to sign in (thinking I already signed up), I couldn't sign in. Tried to register (in case I had yet to register), the site said, "Administrators have forbidden any new members."

I will look into this. Not aware of sign ups being locked. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.


Update: it appears the sign up page was accidently linked to a test forum we use to develop new site ideas. I will have it corrected ASAP. My webmaster has gone to bed Sorry for the inconvenience.

This NASCAR style series is not too appealing to me.
Mostly because it is in Sunday.
There are too many road tracks to be considered an Oval/Speedway series.
I'm still looking at NASCAR 2012 with all those speedways to race on.

What do you mean Sunday, Tomcat? It's on Friday nights.

We added the extra road courses because our after series poll indicated most were in favor of a few more. Racing the same ovals every week gets a bit boring, no? I do wish there were a few more ovals in Forza.

Well, we have what we have to work with, I suppose. It is a challenge to "master" each of the tracks such as Sedona...in either direction. Adding Indy is cool! Love running there. Once the car is dialed in there, it's a blast to drive!

So, to run the same tracks, it does take some ingenuity to change things up enough to break the monotony. Using Restricted and Unrestricted was a good idea last year at VM. I was disappointed the season was comprised of two relatively short series in lieu of one longer one simulating the NASCAR season.

When we ran the stock Stock Cars a few weeks ago on Sunset, that was so much fun. Gave me that itch again!

These cars are quite a bit of fun on the road courses too, you'll see.

I'll be running laps tonight at the IFCA Sprint Cup Series 2 on Sedona speedway.
I might be able to race on Friday night on some of the tracks.

The first race is at Sunset Peninsula Speedway in the unrestricted build, which is PI R3 742. See the OP for the build.

You are all officially on the drivers list for the series, so no need to sign up.

No, we are not as anal about that as VM, hahahahaha. Run whatever you like as long as it's appropriate ( no profanity, etc).

Anyone know what the room settings for this would be with respect to damage, assists and qualifying?

Any of the Tunes that we have used in the past VM or other stock car series should work.
Your lap times for the 1st race on Sunset Speedway should be in the 40.8's or 40.9's

Yes please Tom, I have lost most of my stock car tunes/builds.

Are you planing on racing tonight? I should be there sometime between 8 and 9 PM EST.

I will have to get the car together before we go to dinner tonight, so it would help if I could just load the tune/build.

It should not require to much practice being Sunset. I think there will be one big room tonight and staying undamaged will be the name of the game.....

Ran some practice last night with Tom and Unca. Best was a 40.827. I'm pretty confident after Tom does all his magic during the day, he'll be in the low 7s or high 6s!! I'll be happy with a 40.7 or 40.8!!

OK Sol, will send you the build and tune.
You can put the tune on either car.
I am driving the Chevy.
The Ford may be 1 tenth faster though.

Congrats to Unca for taking the win last night! Nice run man. The results have been posted at FLR, and I hope to have the standings chart up this week.

Thanks to everyone who raced. We had a pretty good time with a few notable exceptions:

We lost Tomcat on lap nine, so sorry man, having been there I know how disappointing that is.

The lag gremlin once again reared it's ugly head and affected a few drivers. I myself was victimized during a late caution when unca's car decided to drop back two places and slam me hard into the wall, taking me out of contention for a podium. Such is the nature of Forza unfortunately.

A spin/crash took Neo out of the race. I will be reviewing the replay carefully to determine what, if anything, can be done to minimize such situations in the future. My initial findings from information gathered during the race is that there were a couple of factors that contributed to the severity of this incident. Let's keep in mind that split second decisions under race conditions are easier said than done, and this is only a game, one we strive to keep on a friendly basis.

Lastly, there was some confusion over the start time. Qualifying for all races begins at 8:pm est.

I would like to apologize to Neo for the accident that ended his run. After reviewing the replay I saw I wasn't as high on track as I thought I was and him coming off apron lended itself to us getting together off turn 4 and then unclearness of our incident allowed others to be involved in accident and causing more damage to his car.

Apology accepted, Turtle.

Lap times are already down to 1:24's to 1:25's

Sorry guys, I nearly forgot to update this. It's been a very busy week so far.

This weeks race is at Sedona, same build. I haven't even had time to run a lap myself yet, so I'm not sure about lap times. If I remember correctly from past series they should be somewhere in the low 30's.

All info can always be found in the Nascar section at FLR, which I have kept up to date, if you ever have any questions.

Remember, qualifying begins at 8:00 pm est. It is highly likely that I will have to work this Fri night, so please be prompt as I will have to keep things moving in an orderly fashion.

Not sure if I can make it this week at Sedona.
The 8PM Eastern time is about 1 hour early for me.
I'll be practicing today while I am able. I will be watching my grand daughter today
